GRAHAM Scott will be tasked with keeping the Manchester City and Watford benches under control in today’s Emirates FA Cup final.
The Abingdon man is fourth official at Wembley for the climax of the English season.
He would take charge should anything happen to referee Kevin Friend.
The appointment is one of the most prestigious in the game, and chairman of the FA referees’ committee, David Elleray, says much thought goes into the make up of the officials.
“This year’s officials are a very good blend of long-term domestic and international experience and the committee has every confidence that Kevin and his team will enhance what promises to be an exciting cup final,” he said.
Scott has taken charge of 17 Premier League matches this season and 29 in total.
Another local person with particular interest in today’s final is Phil Annets.
Based in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Annets runs a blog called FACupFactfile, which specialises in providing often unique facts and statistics about the competition.
He has a four-page article in the programme – the third time his work has been featured.
