MEMBERS from two Oxfordshire taekwon-do clubs scooped nine gold medals between them at the Scottish Open Championships.

Didcot TKD’s squad claimed half a dozen titles, with Lisa-Marie Betteridge (twice), Gabriella Rhodes, Seren Fullbrook, Harvey Claridge and Lucas Betteridge triumphing at the Ravenscraig Sports Complex, near Motherwell.

Rhodes, Fullbrook and Claridge also claimed silvers, along with Joshua Brain and Yasmin Betteridge.

Charlie Rhodes (twice), Maddi Claridge and Naoise Fullbrook won bronze.

Fullbrook and Rhodes were also selected to take part in an invitational match between a Female UKTA select team and Team Sonkal from Prague, Czech Republic, which boasted a host of European medallists.

Both performed well and gained valuable experience.

Brother and sister Charlie and Gabriella Rhodes are now focusing preparations for the ITF World Championships being held in Plovdiv in August.

Vale TKD opted to enter only three students, but all performed well.

Sean McIntyre triumphed in adult black belt 1st Degree patterns and -78kg sparring, putting him in contention for the overall black belt competitor award.

Aisha Macey won gold in 14-17 red belt patterns, silver in special technique (flying kicks) and bronze in red belt sparring.

Lilly Emptage won silver in under 14 black belt patterns and bronze in sparring.
