KARL Robinson says he is desperate to give Oxford United supporters the news they all want in the transfer market.

Today marks three weeks since Tariqe Fosu became their second addition of the summer and since then there have been a series of dashed hopes.

The head coach is well aware of the clamour for completed deals and was disappointed to finish what he described as a ‘big week’ without any confirmed additions.

But he insists progress is being made and there could yet be a new face in the squad to face Fulham tomorrow.

Robinson, who believes four signings are required before the window shuts on September 2, said: “It’s the question the fans all want to know.

“I want to answer it for them and we’re searching high and low for them.

“One could be in this week, hopefully before the Fulham game.

“Then there are three more that we’re going to have to work really hard on.

“I said last week this was a big seven days and we’re closer but we’re not as close as we want to be.

“It sounds like a cop-out answer and people will think ‘he’s just saying that for the sake of it’.

“It’s not the case, if we were further away, we would be honest and up front with everybody.”

The United boss confirmed none of the three bids submitted last week had been rejected and negotiations continue.

He said: “Everyone is working round the clock to try to make these deals happen.”
