AHEAD of each of United's Sky Bet League One games this season, we are looking back at memorable matches against their next opponents.

April 26, 1994: Sunderland 2, Oxford United 3

PAUL Moody had a Woodstock chiropractor to thank after his two goals propelled Oxford United to a stunning fightback at Sunderland and throw the U's a Division One lifeline.

The striker scored twice to pull Denis Smith's side back from 2-0 down at Roker Park, before Chris Allen hit the winner with a stunning 30-yard strike four minutes from time.

It meant the U's were out of the relegation zone with just two games to play, but none of it would have been possible without Moody's emergency back treatment.

His manager said: "Paul was lucky to be on the team coach. He said he wasn't coming because of an injury to his thighs and back, but we said 'let's see what the chiropractor can do'.

"We even took the team coach down to Woodstock to pick him up from the chiropractor and, whatever happened, it did the trick."

Moody added: "I was having a lot of trouble with my thighs when I started training on Monday and was very doubtful for the game.

"But I went to see this chiropractor and he twisted my back to cure it."

United were 2-0 down after 20 minutes, but Moody's penalty halved the deficit before half-time.

In the second half, he chased Phil Whitehead's long punt upfield and his determination paid off, as he rounded the goalkeeper and levelled the scores.

This set the stage for Allen to collect the ball from Bobby Ford on the right wing and drive the U's out of the bottom three.
