SIMON Eastwood says his confidence has not taken a knock despite another defeat for Oxford United.

A 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town leaves the U’s with the joint third worst defensive record in the EFL.

But the manner of the goals left Eastwood with an all-too familiar feeling.

The goalkeeper said: “It just seems that quite a lot of shots are almost un-saveable or a little bit unlucky.

“The lad hit the post for the first goal and I’ve dived for that, then the striker’s tapped the rebound in.

“To be fair on the second goal the lad had headed it right in the corner.

“There’s not many who would save the shots that are going in at the moment.

“It’s not like I’m looking round and thinking I’m dipping in form. It’s nothing like that.”

Eastwood admitted a lack of action for his opposite number Matt Gilks was a concern.

And the two goalkeepers ended up colliding in stoppage time when the U’s No 1 came up for a corner in stoppage time.

He said: “I wanted to go up and try to be a nuisance. If it’s ever in the 90th minute now and we’re losing I’m going to go up and get involved.”

He added: “In the second half it looked like it could go either way.

“But if you flip it round I don’t think I’ve seen their keeper make one save all game, so it’s disappointing that we’re not creating that many chances and leaking goals.”
