MATTY Taylor is poised to give Oxford United a boost ahead of Saturday's big game at home to Tranmere Rovers.

The on-loan striker limped off with a groin strain against Bristol Rovers last month on his second appearance since rejoining the club.

But his progress has been strong and allowed him to join in full training yesterday.

When asked if, providing he came through sessions today and tomorrow unscathed, that would put him in the frame for Saturday, U's head coach Karl Robinson said: "Yes.

"You don’t realise (how big a boost that is), we see him every day in training and he’s a fantastic footballer.

"It also takes the pressure off the likes of Jamie (Mackie), you can see how he flogs his body.

"He had nothing left in him with 20 minutes to go on Saturday at Fleetwood."
