OXFORD City Stars are expecting another stern test when they bid to make it two wins out of two tomorrow.

Streatham Redskins travel to Oxpens to take on a home side high on confidence after a dramatic opening day success.

Stars trailed 5-0 to Bracknell Hornets, but hit back to win 6-5 in a thrilling English National League South Division 1 clash.

However, it gets no easier with tomorrow’s opponents widely tipped as the favourites to win the league title this season.

Stars head coach Simon Anderson has called on supporters to help turn their home rink into a place no visiting team wants to come in order to help them rise to the challenge.

He said: “The fans at Oxford are first class and made a massive difference on Sunday, they stayed behind the boys throughout.

“Every match will be a challenge this season in the higher league and all the teams have the ability to beat each other.

“So, we need to keep making Oxpens a fortress and back the team throughout.

“That made such a difference on last week and we’ll need you again this weekend.”

Stars will be without injured import Ruslan Cernych and netminder Milan Ronai, while David Manning is banned for the next six matches after an incident last weekend.

Anderson added: “The boys were outstanding last week and responded brilliantly to going behind.

“We will need to be on top form this Sunday and get off to a strong start.

“Everyone was in great spirit in training this week and we had a great session together working on our game plan.

“The squad is bonding well, and we have got a lot of great characters in the camp.

“Streatham are a very strong team, but these are the sort of fixtures we want to be playing in and we’re pumped for it.”

Face-off is at 6.15pm and tickets are available in advance or on the door.
