Horspath Hammers got back to winning ways in style, with a superb 97-82 success over Poole Comets.

Defeats at Poole and Coventry meant this was a must-win match for the home side.

And a great team display saw Hammers stun the south and south west league champions.

A good start by the hosts saw them take an early lead, with maximum heat wins from Lukasz Nowacki and Will Jeffery, followed soon after by Zac Payne and George Horsley seeing Horspath open up an 11-point lead.

A series of drawn heats gradually edged them towards victory.

And when Payne and Horsley produced a 7-3 result with five heats to go, the win was in sight.

Although Poole did slightly reduce the deficit late on, Hammers held on for a convincing victory.
