SHANDON Baptiste and Jamie Mackie have replaced Alex Gorrin and Matty Taylor in Oxford United’s starting line-up to face Accrington Stanley.

Baptiste makes only his second start in Sky Bet League One this season, partly down to concerns about Gorrin’s disciplinary situation.

One more booking would incur a suspension and with United hit by international call-ups on top of injuries for next week’s game, the Spaniard is being protected.

Head coach Karl Robinson said: “The reason for Alex is obviously Shandon and Ben Woodburn have been called up, while George Thorne and Jamie Hanson are out injured.

“If Alex picked up a booking today that would be five midfield players ruled out next week.”

Up front, Taylor has come out despite scoring in the past three games.

But Robinson put the decision down to managing the fitness of the Bristol City loanee and Mackie.

He said: “With Tayls he still has a groin issue and we know what Jamie Mackie is like with the niggles he picks up with his back.

“So we have to be really careful of not flogging someone.

“They are two strikers who offer us two totally different things. They’re both playing well and scoring goals.

“They respect that rotation element and it’s working. They’re coming on and making a difference.”
