KARL Robinson praised Oxford United's attitude despite seeing them twice let a lead slip to draw 2-2 at Accrington Stanley.

Tariqe Fosu and Cameron Brannagan added to the side's lengthening list of wonderful strikes this season.

But Stanley hit back each time they fell behind in a spicy clash which featured nine bookings.

While Robinson admitted his side were not at their best, there was a pride at taking something from the game.

He said: "Across a Football League season you’ll have horrible days, good days.

"You’ll play well and lose, you’ll play badly and win.

"I thought one thing the players showed was tremendous appetite and desire."

He added: "I’m really pleased with how they worked.

"They always give me 100 per cent and it’s a very good fighting point, but we feel we’ve thrown two away."

United's game plan was not helped by two enforced substitutions in the first half.

Ben Woodburn limped off with an ankle injury after a poor tackle and his replacement Anthony Forde then sustained a groin injury when he slipped before the break.

Robinson said: "I thought the referee was poor. The tackle on Woody is not good and we’re not happy about it.

"It’s quite swollen on the left ankle and when the referee sees the challenge back I think he’ll be disappointed with his reaction.

"You just hope it’s not bad where it’s three or four weeks, which is my worry right now."
