OXFORD United are on track for three 10,000-strong crowds in eight days in December.

The U’s are aiming for five-figure attendances at the Sky Bet League One matches at home to Wycombe Wanderers and Lincoln City on December 21 and 26.

With the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on December 18 already sold out, the club launched special deals for the other two games.

Until tomorrow, supporters who buy a half season ticket get a bonus entry to the Wycombe clash.

Meanwhile, those who secure their seat for Boxing Day can attend the game against the Chairboys at a reduced price.

The deals have been well received and United’s marketing director, Matt Everett, is optimistic about reaching the target.

He said: “Certainly, in terms of the early sales we are (on track).

“The offers mean it’s been getting busier this week.

“We hope that by the beginning of December we’ll be in a relatively strong position.”

Everett was unable to give exact numbers, but he revealed that three times more match tickets had been bought for the Lincoln game than for next Saturday’s visit of Shrewsbury Town.

Of those, 70 per cent of fans have also claimed a seat for the Wycombe match.

It comes amid huge demand for half season tickets, which have outsold the last three campaigns since becoming available on November 15.

Sales have been boosted by United’s 15-match unbeaten run, which has seen the club rise into the play-off places.

Everett said: “We can’t ask for much more from the team at the moment.

“It’s been a long unbeaten run and long may it continue.

“The way things are going, all of those games in December are going to be huge.”

If United achieve their goal, it would be five crowds of 10,000 or more before Christmas.

The run of home matches comes after a November where the U’s have not played a single game at the Kassam Stadium and boss Karl Robinson urged supporters to turn out.

He said: “We’re going into a batch of games where we need as many bums on seats as possible.

“We love playing at home – hopefully we can enjoy going back there very shortly and putting a performance on.”
