THE suspension of professional football in England has been extended to April 30.

Last Friday, the EFL announced no matches would be played until at least April 3 as a reaction to the coronavirus outbreak.

But this afternoon the Football Association have confirmed that date has been pushed back to the end of the month.

In doing so they have agreed to extend the 2019/20 season indefinitely.

A statement read: "The FA’s Rules and Regulations state that 'the season shall terminate not later than the 1 June' and 'each competition shall, within the limit laid down by The FA, determine the length of its own playing season'.

"However, our board has agreed for this limit to be extended indefinitely for the 2019-20 season in relation to professional football.
