KYRAN Lofthouse has been offered a new one-year deal by Oxford United.

Fabio Sole, Leon Chambers-Parillon and Jack Stevens all have the chance to stay on, but six others have been told they will be released.

That group includes striker Owen James, who made one first-team appearance, and midfielder Aaron McCreadie.

The club have yet to confirm what will happen with Max Harris and Kevin Berkoe, as they wait to sit down with the pair.

Lofthouse though has definitely been given an opportunity to stay on.

The winger made his senior U's debut in the Leasing.com Trophy win against Norwich City Under 21s this season.

But it is his loan spell at Oxford City which really helped seal the deal.

Midfielder Sole also made his senior bow in the competition, scoring in a penalty shoot-out against Portsmouth (pictured below).

Herald Series:

He and defender Chambers-Parillon have not been offered professional contracts, but instead will have a third year as scholars.

Midfielder Stevens, who entered the system late, has been handed a 12-week extension.

Their age group had already seen Nico Jones, Fabio Lopes, Slavi Spasov and Michael Elechi earn professional contracts.

But it is the end of the line for under 23s players Sam Allardyce, James and McCreadie.

From the under 18s, Max Evans, Viktor Milton and Jordan Edwards have also been told they will not be offered professional contracts.

Academy boss Dan Harris told the club's website: "By far the worst part of this job is having to make these decisions and we have spoken to all of them and explained the situation.

"They should all be so proud of their hard work and attitude over their time at the club.

"They are amazing young men and we will do our best to help them with next step on their career paths."
