EDDIE Pepperell slid down the leaderboard on the final day at the Scottish Championship.
A superb six-under 66 on Saturday had moved the Abingdon golfer into a share of fifth place at Fairmont St Andrews, having started the tournament by carding rounds of 68 and 70.
But a one-over 73 in the final round saw him fall into a share of 16th place.
It could have been worse for Pepperell, who had dropped shots just three times in his opening 54 holes, only to bogey three holes in a row from the fifth.
Another followed at the tenth to put the Frilford Heath member four-over for his round.
But he launched a fightback with birdies at the 13th, 14th and 15th.
While Pepperell dropped a shot at the penultimate hole, he finished with a birdie to limit the damage.
It remains a strong run from the 29-year-old, who had top-ten finishes in his previous two events.
Spain's Adrian Otaegui won the event on 23-under par.
Pepperell is not down to play at the Italian Open this week.
