OXFORD United's defeat at Charlton Athletic last night continued their poor start to the season.

We take a look at how it compares to the club's opening seven games in the previous ten campaigns since they won promotion back to the Football League.

Points

Victories against Accrington Stanley and Milton Keynes Dons give Karl Robinson's men six points so far.

While the U's amassed at least twice as many points in three of the last ten years, it is more than they accumulated in three other campaigns.

They are the previous two terms, plus Michael Appleton's debut season, when their first win came in the eighth game.

In one of the best-performing batches of games - under Pep Clotet in 2017/18 - the U's went on to have their lowest finish in the table during the past decade.

Defeats

United's five losses from seven league games is the joint highest in the period since 2010, equalling Robinson's first full season in charge.

Goals conceded

The absence of clean sheets so far has been a big factor in the struggle for results, with the U's averaging two goals conceded per game.

It matches the figure for the 2012/13 season, which included shipping four goals in successive games to Burton Albion and Exeter City.

But United's defence was breached more often in the last two campaigns.
