MARCUS McGuane is expected to be fit to play for Oxford United this weekend - but could still miss the game at Fleetwood Town.

The Nottingham Forest loanee was not risked for Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic due to a tight hamstring.

That is likely to be resolved before the trip to Lancashire on Saturday, but the midfielder's focus is in the capital.

His partner is due to be induced later this afternoon and with the length of time the process can take, there is uncertainty McGuane would have time to make the 280-mile journey to Highbury.

Head coach Karl Robinson said: "Marcus has been told it can be up to 48 hours before she has the baby, which would take it until late Friday evening.

"They're in south London.

"Not only is Fleetwood a bit of a jaunt from here, it's certainly a long way late Friday night to go from there.

"We'll wait and see how that materialises. Hopefully it can happen quicker, but that's not something I have any control over."
