THE number of positive coronavirus tests in the English Football League (EFL) hit a new low last week.
Only four cases, split between two teams, were returned out of the 5,221 swabs taken from 72 clubs between February 8 and 14.
It means the number of positive results has dropped for a fifth week running since regular testing, paid for by the Professional Footballers’ Association, was implemented on January 11.

The first batch of lateral flow tests, which are taken twice each week at each club, returned 123 cases across the EFL’s three divisions.
But the number has fallen sharply since then, with just 16 positive tests recorded in the seven days from February 1.
Oxford United have had five matches postponed this season due to Covid outbreaks in their opponents’ squads.
