OXFORD United's results since the start of December are a better indicator of their form than the last two matches, according to Karl Robinson.

The eighth-placed U's lost 1-0 to Portsmouth on Tuesday, after drawing 0-0 at Ipswich Town 72 hours earlier.

But Robinson is still feeling positive and the U's head coach pointed to a record that is better than any side in Sky Bet League One over the last three months.

Starting with the 0-0 home draw against Ipswich on December 1, United have claimed 31 points from 15 games.

Karl Robinson: Oxford United still in play-off race

It is the same number as second-placed Lincoln City, who have needed one more match, while the Imps' +12 goal difference is inferior to United's +16.

“Even after a point and a defeat, I’m probably coming to you more positive than ever before," Robinson said.

“We’re two points per game for the last 15 games.

“Over a three-month period, our points haul is very good. We’re in good form.”

The top half of League One in that time throws up a couple of surprises.

United and Lincoln are slightly above leaders Peterborough United, who have claimed 30 points from 15 games.

Shrewsbury Town's excellent form since Steve Cotterill took over puts them fourth, with 28 from 14.

The Shropshire side have climbed from second-bottom to 16th and are ahead of Doncaster Rovers on goal difference.

MK Dons - who United visit on Saturday - sit sixth, having claimed 27 points from their last 16 matches.
