JAMES Henry hailed Oxford United’s resilience as they beat fourth-placed Lincoln City to reignite their play-off challenge.

The U’s went a goal down after just four minutes when Anthony Scully found the net, but Anthony Forde and Matty Taylor scored either side of the break to seal a precious win.

It leaves seventh-placed United only outside Sky Bet League One’s top six on goal difference before this afternoon’s games, despite frustrating defeats to Blackpool and Northampton Town in the last week.

The hosts’ heads could have gone down after Scully’s strike, but Henry thought they responded correctly.

The midfielder said: “We showed great character after going 1-0 down.

“We stuck at our game-plan and I thought we moved the ball brilliantly at times, especially in the first half.

“We really dug deep in the second.

“You could see the disappointment on the boys’ faces throughout the week.

“We know that’s the way to bounce back – come back with a good performance and give ourselves a chance.”

The 31-year-old managed 65 minutes in his first game since injuring his hamstring at MK Dons on February 27, but understood why boss Karl Robinson threw him in.

He said: “Thursday was the first day I trained, so I was chucked in at the deep end.

“I was glad to get through it.

“It was right to come off after 65 minutes, as my legs were starting to go.

“I’m one of the more senior lads now and I think every team needs that experience.”

United also had to deal with news that Lincoln’s Adam Jackson and Callum Morton had tested positive before kick-off.

Henry said: “I think clubs are doing the best they possibly can with all their protocols.

“Hence why the game can go forward, because it’s all been agreed with the EFL.”
