OXFORD City stars past and present have been confirmed for the Micky Lewis memorial match.

Oxfordshire football will pay tribute to one of its greatest servants at the ‘One for the Road’ charity game at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday, October 10.

A City All Stars XI will face an Oxford United side comprising players and staff from the 1990s in the first half, with many of the U’s names already announced.

City have now confirmed some of their legends, with strikers Steve Basham and Jefferson Louis and midfielder Scott Davies all taking part.

Their side also includes several players from this season’s squad, including Josh Ashby, Elliot Benyon and Reece Fleet.

City will be managed by current first-team boss David Oldfield, former manager Paul Lee and director Justin Merritt.

Lewis played for Oxford City and was later head of football at the Velocity programme, while he worked for Ignite Sport for a long period.

Merritt said: “Micky worked for Oxford City FC and Ignite Sport for many years in various roles and his contribution to City, Oxfordshire and football is vast.

"He coached thousands of youngsters and his passion was the same whether it was a first team match, or coaching children.

“His was an inspiration and the memorial match will be a very special occasion as we all honour Micky together.

"Micky was a wonderful coach, footballer, mentor, colleague and friend to so many people.”
