MILLIE Couzens claimed three gold medals and a world record at the European Track Cycling Championships.

The Bicester teenager was competing in the junior category at the event in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, and was flawless over the six days.

Couzens opened her account on day two as she helped Great Britain to a world-record time in the women’s team pursuit.

The four-strong team of Couzens, Grace Lister, Madelaine Leech and Zoe Backstedt won gold in 4mins 21.417secs, finishing almost four seconds ahead of Russia.

The Bicester School pupil was a model of consistency as she triumphed in the Omnium and the Madison.

Couzens beat another Russian, Inna Abaidullina, by four points in the former event.

She said: “I was just trying to keep consistent throughout the races.

“I came into the points race third, I think I was ten points behind the leader.

“I just had to go all-in and score as many points as I could.”

Couzens added Madison gold on the final day, teaming up with Backstedt to finish a massive 41 points clear of silver.
