JORDAN Thorniley and Gavin Whyte were due to train today as they recover from the issues that saw them miss Tuesday’s win over Accrington Stanley.

The latter failed a fitness test before the game after taking a kick to the calf against Gillingham last Saturday, but took part in this morning’s session.

Meanwhile, Thorniley was absent with a tooth problem that left him unable to sleep or eat on Monday night, according to Karl Robinson.

Karl Robinson: Important week off the pitch for Oxford United

The U’s head coach said: “He was in a terrible state on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

“It was a big loss losing Jordan, I’ve been really impressed with him.

“We’ll see how he trains and how he responds to antibiotics.

“He doesn’t feel 100 per cent today, but I’m sure he’ll get through it.”

Thorniley had started every Sky Bet League One game this season prior to Tuesday, while Whyte had only missed the defeat at AFC Wimbledon, when he was away on international duty.
