GEORGE Munsey’s Scotland face an uphill battle at the T20 World Cup.
The former Oxfordshire player is opening the batting for his country at the tournament, held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman
Munsey, who started his career at Cumnor, helped Scotland top Group B with a 100 per cent record in the first round.
The former Dragon School pupil scored 29, 15 and 20 in the wins over Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Oman.
He also took four catches in the three group games.
Life has proven tougher for Scotland in Group 2 of the Super 12, where they have been placed with India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand and Namibia.
Munsey was the one shining light in a dreadful 130-run defeat to Afghanistan, when his side were bowled out for just 60.
The 28-year-old hit 25 off 18 balls, top-scoring by some distance.
Yesterday, Scotland fell to a frustrating defeat to Namibia in their second Group 2 game in Abu Dhabi.
Munsey was bowled by Ruben Trumpelmann with the first ball of the innings as the African country restricted their opponents to 109/8.
JJ Smit smashed a six off the first ball of the final over as Namibia triumphed by four wickets.
Scotland stay in Abu Dhabi for their next game, against New Zealand on Wednesday.
