OXFORD United’s Sky Bet League One trip to Sunderland has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 4 (3pm kick-off).

Both sides’ first-round exits from the Emirates FA Cup have freed up that weekend for the fixture, which was postponed from October 9 due to international call-ups.

The U’s lost last night’s replay at Bristol Rovers 4-3 after extra time, while Lee Johnson’s side were also beaten by Sky Bet League Two opponents.

Sunderland went down 1-0 at home to Mansfield Town on November 6.

The teams are currently only separated by goal difference in League One, with sixth-placed United one position ahead of the Black Cats.

Last season’s fixture was a fiery occasion, as Mark Sykes and Karl Robinson were sent off in a 3-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light.

The U’s head coach later alleged goalkeeper Jack Stevens had been headbutted during a half-time fracas, while there were further clashes after the final whistle.

Sunderland assistant head coach Jamie McAllister received a six-game ban as a result, while Robinson was later barred from the touchline for four matches.
