OXFORD United say tomorrow’s home game against Fleetwood Town will go ahead.

Saturday's trip to Wigan Athletic was postponed hours before kick-off after seven players tested positive for Covid on the morning of the match.

Remaining players and staff were tested when they arrived at the training ground today and no further cases were recorded.

It means United should be able to fulfil tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One fixture (7.45pm), as long as there are no complications before then.

As things stand, United have 14 first-team outfield players available against Fleetwood, so would need to dip into their youth teams to fill the bench.

The U’s are still working on an emergency goalkeeper loan, initially for a period of seven days, with Jack Stevens recovering from glandular fever and Simon Eastwood one of those to catch the virus.

Third-choice stopper Kie Plumley is isolating as a close contact of one of the positive cases, while Mackenzie Chapman is on loan at Banbury United.

Karl Robinson named the players who tested positive before the Wigan game as Eastwood, Elliott Moore, Jordan Thorniley, John Mousinho, Anthony Forde, Mark Sykes and Matty Taylor.

They travelled back from the north west separately to the rest of the squad and must self-isolate for ten days.

Robinson also revealed at the weekend that ‘one or two’ staff members had tested positive.
