OXFORD Chargers started life at Sandy Lane with a thrilling 50-39 win over Berwick Bullets.

The hosts fought back from seven points down to take the spoils in their National Development League fixture.

Captain Jordan Jenkins starred as he won each of his five heats to claim a maximum, while Greater Leys resident Nathan Stoneman collected an impressive 12+2 at Oxford Stadium.

There were also useful contributions from Jacob Clouting (8) and Jody Scott, who picked up 7+1.

Chargers kicked-off a new era for speedway in the city with their trip to Berwick on April 9, but they have since had to bide their time as Oxford Cheetahs took centre stage.

The team’s first win sees them rocket up to fourth in the National Development League ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Armadale Devils, who sit bottom.

Cheetahs go to Leicester Lions in the SGB Championship the following evening.
