OXFORD City Ladies finished the season on a high as they beat Carterton Ladies 3-0 to lift the Oxfordshire Women’s Cup.

Goals from Gaby Heath, Jess Biggerstaff and Amelia Alves-Martins secured victory in the final at Court Place Farm.

Carterton started the game brightly and pinned City in their own half during the early stages.

They could not make it count, though, and the ‘hosts’ drew first blood after 34 minutes.

Ellie White went close with a powerful shot and Heath fired in the rebound to give her side the advantage.

City doubled their lead just before the interval when Biggerstaff was left alone to convert in the six-yard box after excellent work from Amelia Alves-Martins.

The second half started like the first, with Carterton dominating as they tried to claw their way back into the game.

But City’s defence held firm, with Kim Slessor and goalkeeper Iona Ffrench-Adam especially impressive.

The momentum changed after the hour mark as City began to dominate, creating numerous chances as they looked for a killer third.

They wrapped up victory with four minutes remaining, as Alves-Martins capped a fine performance by firing in off the post.

It means City won both men’s and women’s county cups this season.
