The Papa John’s Trophy draw follows at 11.30am, when a higher-division Under 21 side will be placed in a group with the U’s and two other teams from Leagues One or Two.

United will know which EFL clubs will join them in advance, with the draw split into northern and southern sections.

Two of their three group games will be at the Kassam Stadium and the opening round of matches takes place in the week commencing August 29.

At 2.30pm, the U’s will discover next their opponents in the Carabao Cup first round, which will be played in the week of August 8.

They can be drawn against anyone from the Championship, League One or League Two, other than newly-relegated Burnley or Watford.

United reached the Carabao Cup second round last season, losing at Queens Park Rangers after beating Burton Albion on penalties.

They went out in the group stage of the Trophy after a win over Tottenham Hotspur Under 21s followed defeats to Cambridge United and Stevenage.

The Sky Bet League One season begins on the final weekend of July.
