JAIME Gotch has become the latest new signing at Oxford United Women.

The centre back arrives from Portsmouth, who finished seventh in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier last season.

United ended the campaign second in the third tier and Gotch believes her new club are on track for big things.

“Promotion is what we are looking at. With the preparation we are doing at the minute it looks like it’s on the cards,” she told the U’s official website.

“It’s always been a hard game against Oxford, I think they’re going in such a good direction.

“There’s a lot of support from management, the players that are already here, the players that are coming in.”

Gotch previously played for FA Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Manager Liam Gilbert added: “She knows this division and has played at the level above.

“Jaime is an excellent defender who reads the game well and she can be dominant in the air.

“She’s done really well in pre-season and we look forward to seeing her continue to develop as a player.”

United have already signed Naomi Cole, Leah Burridge and Shelly Provan this summer.

They start the Southern Premier season with a home game against Bridgwater United on August 21.
