CIARON Brown is set to come up against players from some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs later this month.

The Oxford United defender has been included in the Northern Ireland squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers away to Denmark and at home to Kazakhstan on June 16 and 19 respectively.

Brown has won 14 caps for his country, most recently in a 1-0 qualifying loss to Finland back in March.

He told the United website: “It’s always an honour to be called up by your country and the training camp has been a great start.

“We’ve got two important games in the Euro qualifiers and then I’m excited to get involved with pre-season back with the boys in Oxford so that we head into the campaign ready to go.”

Northern Ireland are second from bottom in their qualifying group for Euro 2024, after two rounds of fixtures.

Slovenia are the only side to win their opening two matches and top Group H, with Denmark, Kazakhstan, Finland and Northern Ireland then all on three points. San Marino are yet to get off the mark.

Against Denmark, Brown is set to come up against the likes of Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen and Barcelona’s former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

Ex-Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are also in the Denmark squad.

For Northern Ireland, former U’s winger Gavin Whyte has been included.
