North Leigh 1 (Reardon 10)

Abingdon Utd 1 (Dodds 76 og)

An unfortunate own goal by North Leigh defender Karl Dodds allowed Abingdon to secure a share of the spoils in Saturday’s Division 1 South & West derby clash at Eynsham Park.

North Leigh created a host of chances, but failed to add to an early lead and were punished 15 minutes from time.

Ben Reardon put the hosts ahea dwith a simple far post tap-in after Matty Taylor’s trickery in the area and low cross from the byline.

Although a Billy Beechers shot was scambled away for an Abingdon corner, the lead was almost doubled as Reardon’s shot rebounded off a post with Jon Beames beaten.

For Abingdon, John Mills fired wide from a Ryan Curtin free-kick before North Leigh were again thwarted by the woodwork as Joe Burnell’s curling strike brushed the crossbar.

After the break saw Taylor twice went close while Reardon then had a great chance, but his low shot was blocked by the advancing Beames.

Abingdon injected some pace with James Dobson coming off the bench, and with 15 minutes left Beechers floated a free-kick into the North Leigh area and Dodds sliced the ball into his own net at the far post.
