Didcot Town boss Dave Mudge says he has finally run out of patience with striker Allie Jaward after releasing him without playing a game for the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West side.

Mudge said Jaward, who signed from Biggleswade, had failed to turn up for any of the club’s training sessions.

“The first week he texted me on a Saturday to say he couldn’t come to training because he had to go to church,” said Mudge.

“The next excuse was that the Docklands Light Railway wasn’t running in east London because of the bad weather, but I saw nothing about trains being cancelled.

“His excuses got more and more hilarious by the week.

“On Saturday he failed to show, so he’s been released, making it one of the shortest careers at Didcot in history.”

But Jeward’s departure means that Jack Bernosconi Meanwhile, Mudge has brought in Ian Concannon as forwards coach.

He said: “Ian’s goalscoring record is unsurpassed, if he can develop the confidence in front of goal of the front players, it will definitely bring its rewards.

“He will also be on the bench and is a great asset to bring on in the latter stages of a game.”

Didcot will be without Lee Henderson (suspended) and James Faulkner.
