ABINGDON Vale were the only winners after all the other Division 2 matches started, but did not reach a finish.

After rain reduced the match to 44 overs a side, Vale skipper Ed Tilley had no hesitation in asking Leighton Buzzard Town to bat first in heavy overcast conditions on a wet pitch.

With the exception of Tom Scott (54), Town struggled against the accuracy of seamer Ben Humpage, who claimed 4-59, and could manage only 151-8.

During the interval, the weather improved and batting became easier, with Will Barker (46) and Tom Pollard (38) laying the platform for Vale's reply.

Tilley then struck an unbeaten 51 to take his side to an easy seven-wicket win with 13.2 overs to spare.

In the other matches, Challow & Childrey had reached 95-3 from 27 overs, with Julian Penney 42 not out, at home to Tiddington before rain stopped play.

Oxford were on 18-0 against arch rivals Horspath, Kingston Bagpuize were 17-2 at home to Morris Motors Exiles, and Bledlow Ridge were 52-0 against Bourton Vale before the weather intervened.
