DIDCOT skipper Jordan Morrison produced a superb spell to spur his side to victory in Cherwell League Division 3 on Saturday.

Morrison claimed figures of 7-31 to dismiss visitors Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd just 144.

Didcot made short work of their total, Simon Pritchard (35) and Elliot Matthews (26) sharing 53 for the second wicket as the home side strolled in by seven wickets.

An imperious century from opener Mark Carey delivered Blewbury & Wallingford their first victory of the season as they beat Oxford Downs 2nd by six wickets.

Seamer Scott Harris (5-45) led the way in the opening innings as Downs were dismissed for 170, before Carey stepped up to smash 110, with 13 fours and five sixes.

He put on 153 for the first wicket with Joey Edwards (40), but Darryl Woods effected a mini-collapse, bowling Ian Harris for a duck and picking up Carey’s wicket to finish the innings on 3-10.

But he couldn’t stop the home side from romping to victory, reaching 174-4 in the 35th over.

Challow & Childrey made it two wins from two with a four-wicket triumph at home to Cropredy in Division 2.

Conor Jones took 4-30 as Cropredy finished on 189-9.

Ryan Gordon (92) and Justin Penrose (67) led Challow’s reply as they reached 190-6 in the 42nd over, Jacob Heath taking 4-47.

Joe Butcher starred with bat and ball for Abingdon Vale, but his heroics could not force victory as hosts Buckingham Town 2nd clung on for a draw.

Sam Chilvers (50no) and Butcher (49) helped Vale to 192-8 in their 53 overs.

Butcher then claimed 5-43 in Buckingham’s reply, but their stubborn tail held firm as stumps were drawn at 136-9.

In Division 5, Didcot 2nd went down to a crushing nine-wicket defeat at the hands of early pacesetters Thame Town.

Didcot were shot out for just 67 in 28.3 overs, with Chris Jeffcock claiming 4-6. Thame knocked off the runs in 12.3 overs.

Kingston Bagpuize were beaten by 147 runs away to Cumnor 2nd.

Mark Farmer (63) top-scored as Cumnor declared on 268-7 in 50 overs.

Chris De Verteuill then claimed 5-18 as Kingston fell to 121 all out.

Abingdon Vale 2nd were handed victory after an error from Bledlow Ridge saw them forced to forfeit their clash.

Ian Murdoch bowled 18 overs for the visitors, and with no-one permitted to deliver more than a third of their side’s allocation, Abingdon picked up maximum points.

In Division 9 South, Dan Costello’s 95 not out helped Didcot 3rd to a thrilling one-wicket win at Challow & Childrey 3rd.

Challow were all out for 182, Phil Cox top-scoring with 46, but Costello’s fine knock saw Didcot to the slimmest of victories.

Blewbury & Wallingford 2nd bagged a five-wicket win away to Kingston Bagpuize 2nd, holding the hosts to 134-5 in their 45 overs.

Skipper Mark Cox’s 58 not out guided Blewbury home.
