OXFORD United need to make amends by delivering a strong performance for their supporters today, according to Canice Carroll.

The U's host Milton Keynes Dons this afternoon in what is their first game at the Kassam Stadium since the 7-0 humiliation against Wigan Athletic just before Christmas.

In between, a 3-2 defeat at Bradford City and the 1-1 draw away to Gillingham have done little to boost the spirits.

Carroll, who scored at Valley Parade on Saturday, knows how important it is for United to get 2018 off to a better start.

He said: "Fair play to the fans who made the journey to Bradford.

"But it would be worse in front of our own fans if we don’t give it a right good go on New Year’s Day and show them we are giving it our best shot and we’re sticking together.

"We do owe them something because their support is always good."

Striker Jon Obika went as far as labelling the Dons game a must-win for United.

He said: "Definitely, we’re back at home and we have to put in a strong performance.

"Obviously the last home game wasn’t good enough, so we’ll have to put in a good performance and hopefully the fans will be behind us."
