DIDCOT Town scored a dramatic late winner to win 4-3 at BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central leaders AFC Dunstable on Saturday.

A thrilling game saw the visitors lead 3-0 at half-time, only to see the table-toppers hit back to level with time running out.

But skipper Luke Carnell slotted home with just three minutes remaining to record a memorable success.

Didcot went ahead in the seventh minute when George Reid was tripped in the box and Ollie Thomas stepped up to score.

It was 2-0 when Mark Bell coolly slotted home on 19 minutes and just three minutes later Reid lobbed home for No 3.

The hosts came out all guns blazing after the break, and scored twice in the opening six minutes through Newman Carney and Christian Tavernier.

Didcot though regrouped and dug deep to keep out Dunstable.

However just when it looked as though they would hold on, Bernard Christie netted to make it 3-3.

But the game took a dramatic late twist when Carnell was on hand to slot home after Bell’s free-kick was fumbled to seal a superb victory.

Wantage Town’s woes continue after a 4-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Bedworth Town.

The game was 0-0 after an hour, but Mitchell Piggon opened the scoring before Khaellem Bailey-Nicholls fired a hat-trick to leave Wantage still searching for their first point of the season.

l BANBURY United were held to a 1-1 draw by Coalville in the Premier Central Division.

Giorgio Rasulo fired Mike Ford’s side into a seventh-minute lead.

But the Puritans were denied all three points when Joe Doyle-Charles equalised with a stunning long-range strike with 15 minutes remaining.
