KIDLINGTON came back from two goals down to deny Wantage Town their first point of the season in BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central.

Jacob Blackstock hit an 89th-minute winner as Julian McCalmon’s side won their Oxfordshire derby 3-2.

The visitors took the lead on 23 minutes, when Charley Tuttle’s free-kick went all the way into the far corner.

They were 2-0 up with half an hour played, Brad Singh putting Wantage in pole position to get off the mark for the campaign.

But five minutes later the hosts hit back, with Lewis Coyle ensuring his side went in at the break only a goal down.

Kidlington drew level on 69 minutes, Leam Howards getting the all-important goal.

And the comeback was complete in the closing stages, Blackstock breaking Wantage hearts and taking the spoils for the hosts.

North Leigh ran out 3-0 winners over Didcot Town in the day’s other Oxfordshire derby at Eynsham Park.

The Railwaymen had the best of the early exchanges, with George Reid spurning a great chance on 21 minutes.

He was made to pay three minutes later as North Leigh captain Callum McNish swept home a dangerous

free-kick from Henry Landers.

The lively Reid almost forced a response, but he was unable to pick out a teammate with a cross after racing clear of the defence.

But Didcot found themselves 2-0 down shortly before the hour mark, Noah Alabi teeing up George Seacole to put the Millers in charge.

Landers had the ball in the net again for North Leigh soon after, but it was ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

Jack Dark squandered another chance for the visitors when he put Reid’s cross over the bar from five yards out and the Millers soon made the game safe.

McNish saw his effort come off the post, but the ball came out to Lance Williams to send the hosts ninth in the table.

Thame United were left to rue several missed opportunities as they were held 0-0 at Aylesbury United.

The visitors wasted several first-half chances, with Ryan Blake and Dan West guilty of missing good opportunities.

West hit the post in the second half, with Aylesbury having a late goal ruled out for offside.

Banbury United went third in the Premier Central division with an impressive 5-0 win over Stratford Town.

The hosts looked in the mood during the early stages and Morgan Roberts put the Puritans ahead shortly before the half-hour mark.

Banbury keeper Jack Harding was called into action twice in quick succession before the break, but Ravi Shamsi gave Mike Ford’s men breathing space on the hour.

John Mills increased the lead and Roberts grabbed his second to put the game beyond the visitors, with Giorgio Rasulo adding a late fifth.
