Andy Ballard says Oxford City will be going all-out for victory when they entertain Vanarama National League South leaders Wealdstone tomorrow.

The joint interim boss knows his side will have their work cut out at Court Place Farm, but believes they can give the Stones a run for their money.

City had a largely positive Christmas period, with two victories against bottom side Hungerford and a narrow defeat at high-flying Weymouth.

These results have seen them rise to 12th place and just four points outside the play-off positions.

Ballard said: “We were good value for our win at Hungerford on Wednesday.

“We were unlucky with the equaliser, which took a deflection, and Kingy (Craig King) was struggling to move much in the second half as he picked up a groin injury.”

King is expected to miss tomorrow’s match as a result and Ballard is hoping to sign another keeper on loan.

He added: “We have a couple of decent young keepers at the club, but in a game of this magnitude, ideally we need someone with a bit of experience.

“Unless Kingy recovers quickly, he won’t be available against Wealdstone, so it needs some thought.”

Kevin Berkoe (groin) is also a doubt, but Tarek Moore-Azille and Dan Rowe should return to the squad after missing Wednesday’s game through illness.

The league leaders edged a

closely-fought game 1-0 when the two sides met earlier this season.

Wealdstone’s winner came seven minutes from time and moments after City’s Joe Oastler had an effort cleared off the line.

Ballard believes the reverse fixture will give his side confidence as they bid to continue their climb up the table tomorrow.

He said: “The game at Wealdstone earlier this season was a very tight one and we only conceded in the dying minutes.

“But we’re at home tomorrow and I see it as an opportunity to get a result.”
