BANBURY United have snapped up midfielder Luke Fairlamb on loan from rivals Brackley Town ahead of the visit of Stourbridge.

The attacking midfielder played college football in the USA for four seasons, while he has also recently appeared for Bedford Town, Sileby Rangers and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Fairlamb, 26, was signed in time for last weekend’s postponed fixture at Kings Langley, so should make his debut in tomorrow’s BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central clash.

Manager Mike Ford said: “I’m at the point now where I feel I need to get some fresh faces into the group.

“We’ve done well this season, but obviously we’ve had some injury issues which have impacted our results.

“It would be remiss of me if I hadn’t brought in an attacking player, because our problem recently has been putting the ball in the net.

“We lost Jaanai Gordon to Oxford City and never really replaced him, but I think we’ve got a player in Luke with some real calibre.”

The enforced break last weekend has allowed Banbury to clear up a few injury concerns, so Ford names a full-strength squad for tomorrow’s fixture.

In Division 1 Central, Thame United face another crunch match as they host fellow high-fliers Yaxley.

The Oxfordshire side’s trip to St Neots last Saturday fell victim to the weather, enabling tomorrow’s opponents to climb above them into sixth with a 4-2 win over Kidlington.

Thame have no injury worries, but with no match next weekend boss Mark West is desperate to avoid another postponement.

He said: “We had a week off with the pitches all being saturated, so we’re pretty keen to get the game on this week.

“It has been a bit of a blessing as we’ve been able to sort out a few niggles, so I’ve got a full squad to choose from for the first time in a while.”

Didcot Town have signed Ardley United midfielder Harley Giles ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Barton Rovers.

The highly-rated 18-year-old is a welcome addition for the Railwaymen, with Jack Longford (thigh) still sidelined and Josh Pin and George Reid ruled out long term.

Boss Jamie Heapy said: “Harley is only 18, but he’s highly rated with bags of potential.

“We’re keen to keep our improved run going at Barton as we want to finish the season strongly.”

Meanwhile, Jack Powell has left the club to re-join Milton United.

North Leigh entertain Aylesbury United hoping that the game goes ahead after a rash of postponements.

Their chairman, Ed Martin, admitted the fixture backlog is concerning.

He said: “It’s been a real challenge lately. We were scheduled for eight games this month and have already had two of those postponed.

“Including the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, we’ve still got 15 games to go in nine weeks, so it’s going to be a busy time.”

Midfielders Callum McNish (hamstring) and Lewis Gabbidon (work) are ruled out, but Ben Brown returns from an ankle injury and centre back Viktor Milton, 18, could feature after joining on a month’s loan from Oxford United.

Wantage Town have signed Swindon Town’s Jacob Bancroft on a month’s loan, with the youngster in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Biggleswade.

Owen Shaw (toe) misses out, but Ross Roberts and Dan James look set to return from injury.

Manager Matt Biddle said: “We had a week off with the rain last weekend and so we have been able to name a largely unchanged squad, although the signing of Jacob will give us a bit of a boost up front.”

A depleted Kidlington side host title-chasing Corby Town and boss Ben Sadler may have to promote players from the development squad.

Kaylem Patterson returns, but Tommy Castle, Tommy Franklin, Mark Flanagan and Jacob Davidge are out.
