OXFORD City's season remains up in the air after the National League announced an indefinite suspension to its competitions.

It is just over a fortnight since the organisation halted its matches due to the coronavirus crisis.

Games were postponed until at least April 3 while discussions took place with member clubs and the Football Association over how best to finish the season.

Following a meeting of the National League Board today, it was decided to extend the arrangement without a deadline.

A statement read: "In consideration of the very serious and unprecedented national public health emergency caused by the coronavirus, the board has taken the decision to suspend the National League, National League North and National League South competitions indefinitely."

City were 14th in the National League South table with eight games remaining when play was stopped.

Boss David Oldfield has said they have an open mind on how the season is concluded.

As things stand they cannot be relegated, following the FA's decision last week to expunge the results of the competitions below the National League, preventing any promotion or relegation.

But more than 100 clubs have now signed a letter to the FA protesting the move, which needs to be ratified by the FA Council before it comes into effect.
