LETCOMBE have received £1,500 to ensure their pitches are ready for action when football restarts.

The Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 2 West outfit were awarded the £1,500 Pitch Preparation Fund grant by the Premier League, The FA and the Football Foundation.

The grant was created to help clubs who have lost out on their normal revenue streams due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Letcombe secretary Des Williams said: “We are extremely grateful to the Football Foundation for this generous grant of £1,500.

“Our groundsman Dennis Stock has been working on the pitch daily.

“The money will help us to ensure that the playing surface is in excellent condition when grassroots football is able to recommence.”

The club can use their grant towards paying for the cost of materials and routine preparatory work.

“This is a vital grant to help Letcombe get their pitches match-fit,” said Robert Sullivan, interim chief executive of the Football Foundation.

“The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation exists to help provide quality infrastructure at the lower-levels of the game.”

Letcombe were three points clear at the top of the Division 2 West table before the season was curtailed in March, with all results expunged.
