WITNEY made it five wins in a row with a 25-19 victory over Stratford upon Avon.

Nick Geekie’s penalty put the visitors 3-0 ahead in the South West 1 East clash.

But hosts Witney replied on 11 minutes when Jack Birks touched down and Arron Lambourne added the extras.

Stratford led 11-7 at the break, thanks to a Geekie penalty and Dan Whitby’s unconverted try.

However, two Rhys Morgan scores, the latter converted by Lambourne, put Witney 19-11 in front.

Stratford’s Geekie crossed to reduce the deficit, before he and Lambourne traded penalties.

Another penalty from Lambourne with 11 minutes to go made it 25-19, before Witney resisted late pressure from the visitors.

Freddie Cracknell scored a hat-trick of tries, but it was in vain as Banbury were beaten 35-28 by Salisbury.

The winger crossed twice early on, Ed Phillips converting, to put Bulls 14-0 ahead.

A Matthew Loader penalty and David Tonge’s unconverted try saw the visitors reduce the deficit.

But Banbury soon made it 28-8, when Cracknell completed his hat-trick and Phillips, who converted both, also crossed.

Salisbury replied through Loader’s penalty before the break.

The second half was a different story as Callum MacTaggart dived over for Salisbury, Loader converting.

Jimmy Manley was sin-binned for Bulls, leading to a Loader penalty, before Oliver Bowden’s converted try made it 28-28.

Salisbury sealed victory when Christian Metson went over and Loader added the extras.

Oxford Harlequins lost 38-31 at Chippenham.

The visitors took a 12-0 lead after 15 minutes, thanks to tries from Charlie Craig and James Stacey, Sam Watkinson converting the first.

But the hosts raced into a nine-point advantage as Mike Dickens (2) and Lewis Surry crossed, with Surry (2) and Tom Fogerty adding the extras.

Quins replied to reduce the deficit to 21-17 when Jack Crowe dived over.

After the break, the visitors raced into a 31-21 lead as Stacey and Watkinson, who converted both, crossed.

But three tries in the final 15 minutes from Dickens, Henry Kirkpatrick and Sam Saunders, Fogerty converting one, saw the hosts claim victory.

Bicester fell to a 38-12 defeat at home to Royal Wootton Bassett.

The hosts led 12-0 after 13 minutes, Freddie Myatt and West Wetsway going over, Ollie Dawkins converting the latter.

Bassett scored two quick tries to make it 14-12 before half-time as Tom Fieldsend and Fin Dewar crossed, Dave Hogg adding the extras.

Bicester’s Dawkins was also sin-binned ahead of the break.

Phil Bardwell, Sam Robinson, Fieldsend and Chris Rowland then went over for Bassett, Hogg converting twice, to confirm the result.

Grove suffered a 58-7 defeat at home to Old Patesians.
