DAN Barley revelled in scoring two tries at Twickenham as Oxford University brushed aside Cambridge in the 137th Men’s Varsity Match.
The Dark Blues triumphed 38-16 to taste victory at the home of English rugby for the first time since 2015.
Fly-half Tom Humberstone also played a starring role, scoring 18 points, as Oxford eased past their rivals.
Winger Barley could not hide his delight at helping the Dark Blues end Cambridge’s two-match winning run.
He said: “I'm over the moon.
“I remember receiving the ball for my first try and the next thing I knew I was getting a few pats on the back - the rush is quite hard to compare to.
“I never expected the second try and I'm sure my dad is hoping he put a bet on it - unbelievable."
Heineken Cup winner and Oxford captain Dom Waldouck added: “I’ve been living and breathing this for three months now, so to finish the job off is very special.”
