CHINNOR have signed scrum half Joe Pigott from Newbury Blues.

The 28-year-old (pictured) scored 19 tries across the past two seasons for the fifth-tier side.

Now he is looking forward to stepping up two divisions at Kingsey Road.

He said: “I now want to push myself a bit more and see how far I can go.

“Being at a club like this and having the quality of players around me, I will only continue to develop and improve.

“Ultimately, I’m here because I want to be the best player I can be.”

Meanwhile, highly-rated youngster Max Brewer has been promoted to Chinnor’s senior squad.

The 19-year-old impressed in his maiden season in men’s rugby in 2019/20 and was named player of the year for the club’s third XV, the Wildboys.

Brewer, who can play at either hooker or flanker, said: “It’s a massive step up and I want to test myself.

“Training with the senior squad will be great, because I like to take on advice and learn from players who have been there and done it.”

Versatile back-row forward Jo Brown is the latest player to re-sign for next season.

The 21-year-old, who is yet to make a first-team appearance, said: “There’s been change at the club and there’s a feeling of trepidation across rugby at the minute, but my ambition is to demonstrate to our supporters that we’ve not dropped off.”
