KIRSTY Miller and Ricky De Winton, members of Didcot TKD, captained England’s women’s and men’s teams to victory in the UK Open Taekwon-Do Championships at Guildford.

Miller led the women to a dominant win over rejuvenated Wales in the final, while De Winton guided the men to victories over Scotland and Wales to retain the Rhee Ki Ha.

Didcot members figured prominently in the medal winners in the 430-strong competition.

In addition to Miller and De Winton, who also took a silver, there were golds for Harrison Deeley and Lucas Betteridge.

Other silver medal-winners were Seren Fullbrook, Harvey Claridge, Naoise Fullbrook, Connor Fisher, Amber Luker and Harrison Moore, while Lisa-Marie Betteridge, Maddison Claridge, Yasmin Betteridge and Isla Fullbrook claimed bronzes.

l VALE Karate Club, Wantage, saw several of their members achieve a black belt ranking.

This followed a course given by senior instructor John Parnell, who is a 6th degree black belt, and a former world champion.
