ABINGDON Vale’s Natalia Druett soared up the British rankings, when she won two gold medals in a meeting at Cardiff International Pool.

The 14-year-old won the 200m breaststroke in a time of 2mins 41.03secs, which not only set a club record, but also ranks her fifth in Britain at her age group,

She followed this with another dominant win in the 100m breaststroke and then added a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke.

Clubmate Pia Forrestal also brought home a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly.

Meanwhile, at the Winter Regional Championships in Portsmouth, Abingdon’s 21-year-old Harry James qualified for the finals in all the breaststroke events, achieving a fifth place in the 200m event against several national level swimmers.

Abingdon’s youngest members shone at Maxwell, where Rhiannan Lillistone, Ralph Allen, Eva Ponting, Lara Hayward, Jonty Wright, Ruby Smith, Josh Tucker, and Ned Pullen all won medals.

l KIDLINGTON & Gosford swimmers picked up five gold medals at the Glyn Mettam Memorial Meet in Sheffield.

Zak Gibson claimed three of them in the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly, while others came from Megan Batty (50m freestyle) and Katie Parsons (100m breaststroke).

Gibson and Parsons also took silver medals along with Chelsea Beahan, Magnus Paulini-Torrance and Ellie Broome.

Paulini-Torrance (2), Katie York, Caitlin Brown and Broome won bronzes.
