BRITISH Rail took advantage of their rivals’ inactivity to move to within a point of top spot in Division 1 of the Oxford & District League.

A 10-0 whitewash of Forum D saw Darren Jones, Neil Cartwright and Ian Mead move their side to just a point behind Forum A with a game in hand.

The Division 2 front-runners both had big wins against two-man rivals, Forum F thrashing Gladiators A 9-1 and Vikings B thumping Forum G 10-0.

Joe Rolls inspired Holton A to beat Begbroke 6-4 to ease their relegation worries.

Bicester B beat two-man Forum H 7-3, with Jamie Felton on a maximum.

Forum E beat club-mates Forum G 8-2.

Bicester E remain top of Division 3, despite being held to a draw by Vikings D.

Nearest rivals, Bicester D, were also held to a draw by Holton C.

Maximums for Craig Burgess and Cathy Fogg led to Bicester C overturning Vikings C 9-1. Max Jackson beat Stan Harding to save Vikings from a whitewash.

Forum I proved to be too strong for Holton B, beating them 10-0.

Basement side Holton D remain bottom, despite beating fellow strugglers, Forum J, 8-2.
