CHILLY weather made for some dramatic see-saw scoring in the Oxford & District League.
As the evening went on and the temperature fell, the rink conditions changed.
Division 1 saw the most extreme case as Banbury Central won 4-2 at home to Witney Town.
Central’s Mick Andrew’s rink were 21-0 up after ten ends, but lost the next eight 11-5 to see their winning margin reduced.
Keith McNeil’s men were locked at 7-7 after ten ends, but eventually romped home 25-9.
Paul Demczak snatched an unlikely win for Witney, going from eight shots behind after 15 ends to win by two.
Headington enjoyed a 5½-½ victory against Watlington in their first match of the season.
The one rink they failed to win was Nick Ray-Welsh, who snatched a shot at the last end to draw despite being 11 shots ahead after 12 ends.
City & County continued their fast start to the Division 2 campaign, although their 5-1 win over Kidlington was tighter than the scoreline suggests.
Newly-promoted Bloxham are the early Division 3 leaders after a 6-0 whitewash of Hanborough.
