STAFF at HMV Oxford have been told the shop will now stay open until the end of June.
The Cornmarket store, left, was scheduled to close yesterday but that date has now been pushed back for undisclosed reasons.
A member of staff, who did not wish to be named, said: “Originally it was going to be today, but now it is extended to the end of June.”
He also said the store was now getting normal stock deliveries to fill the shelves until then.
The staff member said: “We are getting normal shipments in again now that we’re open for the next few months.”
HMV bosses confirmed in January that the Cornmarket Street store would close.
They said they were looking for another location in the city, but no further announcement has been made. The company went into administration in January 2013 because, it said, of weak consumer spending and intense competition from the internet.
It was saved in April when restructuring firm Hilco bought 141 stores across the UK, including the Oxford shop, for a reported £50m from administrators Deloitte.
