A GREEN taxi firm is beginning to create its own orchard on wasteland.
Didcot-based Go Green Taxis has started to plant apple, pear and cherry trees on land next to its base at the Didcot Enterprise Centre, and hopes to get the community and schools in the area involved in the scheme.
Director Mike Hatter said: “We are trying to start up our own public orchard and use waste land to kick it off.
“We hope it will make the area a lot more friendly and what we would like to do is invite schools to come and help us plant some trees.
“We are funding all the planting and start-up costs ourselves. We would really like local people to come and help with some of the planting to really get it going.”
The taxi firm uses hybrid vehicles to cut carbon emissions.
